The Betty Irene Moore Fellowship for Nurse Leaders and Innovators is a national program to develop the next generation of nurse leaders and innovators. The program is headquartered and administered at the University of California Davis Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing. The fellowship program recognizes and advances early- to mid-career nursing scholars and innovators with high potential to accelerate leadership in nursing-science research, practice, education, policy and entrepreneurship. Betty Irene Moore Fellows develop skills and confidence in leadership and innovation improving health care delivery and advancing health.  The three-year program engages promising nurse scholars in a journey of leadership development and mentorship as they complete an innovative project or study. Each year, approximately 10 fellows are selected to receive $450,000 over three years to support their engagement, while their home institution receives $50,000 to offset costs. The fellowship is currently funded for five full cohorts from 2020 through 2025.

The program seeks a diverse pool of nurse scientist applicants with aspirations for leadership across health, health care and academic settings. Applications for the 2023 cohort open Sept. 23. Informational webinars about the program are being held on Sept. 23, Oct. 14 and Nov. 4. Signup for a webinar at
