Call for Abstracts: 5th Indigenous Nursing Research Leadership Summit (Oct 6–9, 2026)

The conference planning committee is pleased to invite abstract submissions for the 5th Indigenous Nursing Research Leadership Summit, taking place October 6–9, 2026, on the traditional territories of the Lək̓ʷəŋən (Songhees and Xʷsepsəm/Esquimalt) and W̱SÁNEĆ Peoples (Victoria, British Columbia).

This international Summit brings together Indigenous nursing leaders, scholars, community knowledge holders, and learners to advance self-determined health and wellbeing. We aim to foster meaningful dialogue, share innovative research and methodologies, and strengthen connections across academic, clinical, and community settings.

We welcome abstracts:

  • Related to the health and wellbeing and healthcare spectrum conducted with First Nations, Inuit, Métis Nurses in Canada, Māori nurses in Aotearoa, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nurses in Australia, and American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, and other Indigenous Peoples in the US.
  • Indigenous nurse led research methodologies that aim to get our Indigenous stories and realities right or applying Indigenous research and transformative praxis.
  • Explore under-researched topics or underserved populations, with clear relevance to Indigenous communities

Submissions are invited from faculty, practicing nurses, researchers, community and health leaders, as well as undergraduate and graduate students.

Presentation formats include:

  • 3-minute presentations
  • 6-minute 40-second PechaKucha presentations
  • 15-minute oral presentations
  • Poster presentations

This Summit offers a unique space to contribute to the growing body of Indigenous-led research and to engage in rich, cross-sectoral exchange that supports healthier futures for Indigenous Peoples globally.
