Established in 2026 to integrate nursing ethics throughout nursing, to promote ethical practice in healthcare by bringing together all nursing and allied scholars with a shared commitment to nursing ethics, and to foster a culture, grounded in nursing ethics, that supports nursing excellence in every role and setting. The organization provides a clear definition of nursing ethics as the native ethics that arose from within the community and tradition of nursing at the very start of modern nursing in the 1860s. Modern nursing and its ethics became established and developed hand-in hand.

Nursing ethics is well over a century old, and has its own expansive and rich body of ethical literature.The website, SONEI.org, offers the opportunity to learn about nursing ethics, and how to apply it in practice, how to teach it, and domains of research that might be pursued, how it might influence policy formation, and more. It also offers the opportunity to connect with similarly interested colleagues. Come and join us!
