The Nursology.net team has established a new internship program for nurses who are interested in learning and participating in the development and management of the Nursology.net website. We welcome applicants from any stage in your nursing career – students, mid-career, or retired! The first annual internship begins in September, 2024, and continues for 9 months. Upon completion, participants will have the option to apply for a volunteer position as a co-manager of the site. If you have any of the following interests or experiences, this opportunity might be for you!

• Unwavering commitment to the discipline of nursing.
• Knowledge and prior experience learning, teaching, or exploring nursing theory and philosophy 
• Willing to commit approximately 1-3 hours per week for internship meetings and hands-on activities.
• Willing to contribute at least three blog posts during the internship experience.
• Commitment to learning and participating in hands-on web management activities.
• Prior experience with WordPress or other similar blog and web development platforms is desirable, but not required.

There is no compensation, but participants will benefit by being formally recognized for their participation, which can be included on the dossier as service to the discipline.  Students may be able to negotiate academic credit as part of an independent study supervised by a faculty member who is willing to provide the academic oversight required by the institution.

Participants will be encouraged to attend the monthly Advisory Team meetings on the 3rd Tuesday of every month, from 4 to 5 pm Eastern.  As Nursology.net interns, participants will meet once a month (time to be arranged) with the current site manager, Peggy Chinn and other members of the web management team once a month for the 9 month internship period.  The times of these meetings will be determined based on the requirements of the participants. The monthly internship meeting topics will cover:

• Introduction to the purposes of the site, review of rationale and criteria for content appearing on the site, and the tasks required for web management.
• Introduction of the overall structure of the site
• Basic principles guiding the content formatting of blogs and pages.
• Overview of practices related to writing and developing blog posts.
• Overview of the maintenance tasks, and practice performing these tasks.
• Hands-on collaborative participation in updating existing content, and in the development of new content.

Specific Internship Responsibilities

The Internship extends from September through June. The specific activities include:

• Attending the monthly Advisory Team meetings, 3rd Tuesday at 4 pm Eastern (September 2024- June 2025)
• Attending and participating in the web management team meetings (time to be arranged);
• Participating in learning sessions related to website management skills;
• Participating in selected tasks involved in website management

Up to 3 individuals will be accepted for each annual internship program. Applications are due on July 15.
